Welcome to Surprise Valley Youth Camp
Surprise Valley Youth Camp is a nonprofit Christian youth
camp affiliated with the churches of Christ (Romans 16:16). The goal of the
camp is to promote bible study and Christian growth as well as fun and
fellowship among the youth of the world. SVYC is a place where our young
people can go to get away from the dangers and problems of the world and can
interact with each other in a Christ like manner. There are four weeks of
camping each year; three junior weeks and one senior week. There are many
activities that take place throughout a week at camp. The Bible being the
number one priority.
Campers at SVYC will be exposed to bible classes,
chapel services, Bible bowls, devotionals, singing, praying and Christian
fellowship as well as many outdoor activities including; soccer, basketball,
football, softball, volleyball, badminton, hiking, archery, crafts,
campfires and more.
The camp is staffed each week by Christians who
volunteer their time as counselors, teachers, cooks, nurses and other
helpers. The SVYC
Board of Directors
consists of twelve devout Christian men who serve the Lord daily and are
devoted to helping teach and guide the young people who attend. Each week of
camp has a director who oversees the activities to assure that the Bible is
taught and safety is maintained.
The two directors are members of the camp board of
directors. Dewey Miller, an Elder of the church in South Charleston, WV is
the director of two of the junior weeks and George Erwin, a member of the
Pine Grove, WV congregation directs one junior week and the senior week of
camp. Both have been directors for a number of years and enjoy their time
with the children. Surprise Valley Youth Camp wishes to thank you for your
support.
