Well it's early but, I
am already excited about camp. Soon we will be gathering at the camp to do
mowing, cleaning, constructing and other things that will prepare the
buildings and grounds for the 2008 camp session.
I would like to
encourage all of you who are parents and even some of the young adults
and/or those who just love the camp as much as I do (which is a lot) to come
and join us as we get things ready this Spring. Workdays and Board Meetings
will be scheduled in the near future. I challenge you to look at the
schedules when they are posted at your congregation and plan to help as much
as you can. If you do not have a schedule, feel free to call Dewey Miller,
the Board President and he will be glad to send you one.
It is sometimes very
difficult to get the help that is needed to complete all the tasks that need
to be completed. There are two or three folks who spend much time at the
camp, all year round, in order to get things done. Even I can't make it to
every work day but, I make it to every one that I can. If you could help
only some of the time, it would be appreciated! Maybe with your help we can
have more than one, two, three or four people at the camp on workdays.
Believe it or not, it is
actually a little fun. Just being around folks who are giving their time for
the sake of the Lord, is encouraging in itself. Whether it's the
conversation or the fellowship that makes it fun or perhaps the laughing
when a hammer smashes a thumb or the one who is mowing the grass misses a
spot in the yard, I am not really sure. However, I am sure that at the end
of the day, I feel great because of the light bulb I changed, the cabin I
swept, or the walls that I painted. It just feels great to be able to help
in any way I can. Come join us. It's work, but it's fun and equally
rewarding.
